Port Huron, Mich. – The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), has granted Three-Year Accreditation to McLaren Port Huron. To achieve voluntary NAPBC accreditation, a breast center demonstrates compliance with the NAPBC standards that look at a center’s leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement. Breast centers seeking NAPBC accreditation undergo a site visit every three years.
As a NAPBC-accredited center, McLaren Port Huron’s breast program is committed to maintaining levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care resulting in high-quality care for patients with breast disease. McLaren Port Huron is one of only 23 NAPBC centers in the state and is the only accredited NAPBC facility in St. Clair County.
“Patients receiving care for breast diseases at McLaren Port Huron now have access to a multidisciplinary team that coordinates the best treatment options, information on clinical trials and new treatments, genetic counseling, patient-centered services including a survivorship care plan to improve the cancer survivor’s quality of life,” says Jennifer Montgomery, MSA, RN, FACHE, President and CEO of McLaren Port Huron.
