Eric F. Krohn, DO, Orthopedic Surgeon, has joined McLaren Northern Michigan Orthopedic Services located at 560 West Mitchell Street, Suite 560, in Petoskey, MI.
Dr. Krohn was born in Maryland but raised in Washington state. He received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA, completed his residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, OR and finally a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.
Dr. Krohn always wanted to work at a moderately sized community hospital that was small enough that he could get to know everyone he worked with, but big enough to tackle some of the more complex orthopedic cases. He also feels being in such a beautiful area is attractive.
Dr. Krohn’s favorite aspects of orthopedics include deformity correction, growth modulation and fracture care.
“I always wanted to work in a field that would help my community,” explained Dr. Krohn. “I decided on my career path when I was editing my host father's book while I was living on a farm in Spain; he is a therapist and writer by profession. My host father spoke about how many people are afraid to do something hard. It was at that moment, I realized I had always wanted to be a physician but did not think I was capable of it…until then. So, the challenge, in addition to being able to help my community, was what attracted me to medicine.”
Outside of his orthopedic practice, Dr. Krohn likes to fish, cycle, hike, camp, travel and study history.
