Safety Huddles

Every weekday morning, 21 different department heads and management team leaders gather together to discuss patient and staff safety.

Each individual is required to focus on their area(s) of responsibility, and report on safety or quality concerns including: 

• issues that had an impact on staff or patients during the last 24-hours;
• issues that may cause problems in the future; and
• following-up on open issues that have been previously identified.

The practice of daily safety huddles for leadership is a critical step in the hospital's overall goal of becoming a high-performance, highly reliable organization.
