About McLaren Flint Foundation

Philanthropy used to be thought of as an activity reserved for highly successful, very wealthy and older individuals - people who were at the end of their careers and the sunset of their lives. Donors or supporters of good causes were stereotypically rich uncles, kind widows and big business benefactors.

The reality today is that givers come in all ages, genders and socio-economic status. This is witnessed through the supporters of the McLaren Flint Foundation who have stepped up to give back. These people are uniting to help the Foundation in its mission to improve health and well being of the people in our community.

Letter from the Vice President of the McLaren Flint Foundation

McLaren Flint Hospital began in 1919 as a community non-profit hospital when Dr. Lucy Elliot, and Lillian Girard, RN, decided their 10-bed facility needed to expand. Later that year, with funding assistance from various civic groups, a six-acre site at 1900 Lapeer Street was acquired. The brick residence on that site was converted to accommodate 29 patient beds and was named the Women's Hospital. Today, with a 100-year legacy of clinical excellence and compassionate, patient-focused care, McLaren Flint is now a 378-bed teaching hospital and continues to be Mid-Michigan’s leading health care provider.

It was at that time, when Dr. Lucy Elliot, and Lillian Girard, RN were busy building relationships and raising money, that the Foundation began. Today, the McLaren Flint Foundation continues to invest in programs and services that meet the needs of our community.

When you make a gift to the McLaren Flint Foundation you are partnering with us to make a difference in the lives of Flint and Genesee County residents. Your charitable gifts will help us purchase new state-of-the-art medical equipment and innovative technology, modernize and expand new facilities and provide the highest quality health care and community programs to those who need us most. Funds are provided through special events, grants, planned gifts and general donations from donors like you, who are committed to making a difference in the lives of patients and families. .

WHO WE ARE

The McLaren Flint Foundation is a supporting organization to McLaren Flint Hospital. Both are 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations committed to providing quality health care in Genesee County. OUR PROMISE

As a donor you have the confidence that your gift will be optimized to provide superior patient care and knowledge that your generosity will impact you, your family and your community for generations to come.

On behalf of Dr. Lucy Elliot and Lillian Girard, RN, along with Margaret McLaren, RN and the many others since who have created and evolved a thriving hospital and foundation, we are grateful for the continued support from the community we serve and look forward to expanding the level of care we offer. Whatever brings you to our website, thank you for your interest. We invite you to learn more about our Foundation that is helping the people we love and serving the community.

Sincerely,
Doug Glazier
