Critical Assesment Team
24-Hour Emergency Action Care Team at Ext. 4444
Trust Your Instincts.
Make the Call.
Call the Critical Assessment Team Line immediately whenever something about a patient doesn't look or feel right to you.
McLaren Northern Michigan is committed to providing high quality, compassionate care to our patients.
As another way we provide the best possible care. The Critical Assessment Team enables us to respond more quickly to changes in a patient's condition -- often before a medical emergency, such as a heart attack, occurs.
The team is made up of highly trained individuals and may include nurses, doctors, and respiratory therapists.
If it appears that a patient's condition is quickly worsening and you are unable to reach the nurse, the Critical Assessment Team is called and takes action. The team comes to the patient and evaluates the patient immediately.
When are patients most likely to experience a change in their condition?
Patients are most likely to experience changes in their condition just after surgery, during medical tests, or any time a patient is recovering from an illness. Warning signs that may indicate a patient needs immediate attention:
- Changes in the heart rate
- Bleeding
- Difficulty breathing
- Chest pain
- Something just isn't right
How can a family member or friend help?
If you notice a patient's condition is changing very quickly, you should call the patient's nurse. If more immediate attention is needed, make the call to bring the Critical Assessment Team in.
Call the patient's nurse. If unable to reach the nurse, then call the Critical Assessment Team at ext. 4444.
