Our Community

The Detroit Metro area is the 12th largest in the United States. Our city is home to outdoor enthusiasts, sports fans, car nuts and a thriving arts and music scene. Although Detroit has suffered challenges, Detroit is still a vibrant and hopeful city. Home to Ford, GM and Chrysler, Detroit is still the center of the auto industry in the US. Thousands of automotive suppliers still call Detroit home. Many of those suppliers are in Oakland County, a few miles from McLaren Oakland.

Located in the heart of Oakland County, McLaren Oakland serves one of the fastest growing regions in the State of Michigan. Surrounding the Hospital are communities ranging from small townships and villages to established suburban cities, spanning the spectrum from urban to rural. This diversity not only provides broad-based medical experiences, but also offers a variety of attractive living options.

Scenic, rolling woodlands and over 400 lakes create a graceful, relaxing landscape. Fishing, swimming, waterskiing, and sailing are literally at your doorstep. Horseback riding, hiking, tennis, and more than 50 private and public golf courses make this area especially appealing to active people. As the weather turns cooler, downhill and cross-country skiing, skating, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and ice-fishing dominate the outdoor agenda. No matter what the season, the area remains unrivaled in accessible, well-managed recreational facilities.

The region features an equally varied choice of cultural and entertainment attractions. One of the nation's greatest architectural treasures, Cranbrook Education Community welcomes people from all over the world to visit its Art Museum, Institute of Science, and Cranbrook House and Gardens. The renowned Meadow Brook Theater offers professional stage productions, and the Meadow Brook Music Festival is the summer home of the internationally acclaimed Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Just 30 minutes away in downtown Detroit, the Detroit Tigers run the bases at Comerica Park and the Detroit Lions make us proud at Ford Field. The Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Red Wings play Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

The DTE Energy Music Theatre, presents internationally known artists, theater productions and family shows throughout the summer in a stellar outdoor amphitheater. McLaren Oakland provides on-site Emergency Medical Services to the Meadow Brook and the DTE Energy Music Theatre.

Opportunities for college education are equally accessible. Within minutes of McLaren Oakland are Oakland University and four community colleges. Wayne State University and the University of Detroit are just a half-hour away.
